Hakone

Hello, travelers. This is KumiPicturesque Japan Blog welcomes you to a luxurious Hakone tour.

This website is very helpful when you visit Hakone.

A lot of people go to Hakone by Odakyu line, but as this is a luxurious tour, we took a bullet train (shinkansen) to Odawara. It takes only 35 minutes!
(*If you have a JR pass, this could be your option.)

At Odawara station, we bought Hakone Freepass.

(*If you use the Odakyu line from Shinjuku, you should get the Freepass at Odakyu counter at Shinjuku station.)

Then we took Hakone Tozan Railway to Hakone-yumoto. (15 min)

You could take a bus to Motohakone area, but, we took a taxi (approx. 4,000 yen / 30 min) to the port. And they started playing with the snow. LOL

It was a very clear day and we could see Mt. Fuji from Motohakone. Can you see the white stuff above the man's shoulder? That's Mt. Fuji.

We took this Hakone Sightseeing Ship (pirates ship) to Togendai. (approx. 30 min)

This ship is called "Royal II."

Hmm... Very luxurious, like Titanic!

Hahaha. I asked her to do this. :P

Then we got on a gondola to Owakudani. (16 min)
This kind of gondola is called "ropeway" in Japan. So this is called Hakone Ropeway.

Mt. Fuji is behind them! And he's posing with Coca-Cola in his hand for his friend who's working for Coca-Cola. :)

Wow! What a view!!! Mt. Fuji!!!

This is Owakudani.

(*Owakudani area will be sometimes closed due to volcanic gases, so please check out the latest information when you visit this area.)

You'll be surprised to see the steam. Some people may find it scary. Well, but, they don't. They are again enjoying the snow. LOL

Now, Mt. Fuji looks bigger.

The black eggs are popular here. The shells are blackened by the sulfur.

Um... not this one. LOL

When we visited Hakone, the ropeway from Owakudani to Sounzan was closed due to maintenance, so we took a bus instead. And she enjoyed taking the photos of the snow through the bus window.

From Sounzan, we take the Hakone Tozan Cable Car. (10 min)

Okay, it's coming!

It's coming! (Can you see that?)

Look at this angle!

Like a rollercoaster!

Haha. No no, not that scary. I'm kidding. :P

From Gora, we took Hakone Tozan Train and I made this origami art.

This is just an origami paper, but this pattern is very famous here. If you're interested in arts and crafts, please check this out.

We came back to Hakone-yumoto where we started our Hakone exploration.

And enjoyed shopping.

Then we took Hakone Tozan Train back to Odawara.

And took the bullet train back to Tokyo.

That was really a perfect day and we got back to their hotel at exactly 5 p.m. as scheduled!
