Autumn in Kyoto Nov. 6 - 11

Hello, travelers. This is Kumi. Picturesque Japan Blog welcomes you to Kyoto.

From November 6 to 14, I had an opportunity to stay in Kyoto on business (and for pleasure). It was to support an event. As I had some free time before or/and after work every day, I visited a lot of temples and shrines. Let me introduce them.

++ November 6 ++

Sanjusangendo (Temple) *Admission 600 yen

This is where you can see 1001 statues of the goddess of mercy.

Fushimi Inari Taisha (Shrine)

Hmm... it was a bit too dark when I arrived there. Does this look scary? Well, there were so many people, so it wasn't that scary.

Though it was too dark for taking good photos of the red trii gates, the evening view was pretty.

It seems a lot of tourists take trains in the wrong direction, so there was this sign at the station.

++ November 7 ++

Higashi Hongan-ji (Temple)
https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3920.html

It's only five minutes from Kyoto station, so I visited this temple in the morning.

A gray heron was looking at the city like a surveillance agent.

Kyoto City Bus & Kyoto Bus One-Day Pass (500 yen) is very useful and helpful.

++ November 8 ++

This is a small shrine called Toyokuni Jinja.

In Kyoto, some temples and shrines are really packed, but you can find some peaceful spots like this.

This is the side view of Kyoto National Museum.

Looks peaceful? Actually, the museum has been exhibiting a lot of national treasures, so an incredible amount of people flock to the entrance gate and sometimes people need to wait hours to go inside.

++ November 9 ++

Chishaku-in (Temple)

Visited this temple before work.

There were some tourists in their precinct, but compared with other well-known temples, it was amazingly peaceful.

As it was very close to my workplace, I decided to visit this temple again to see their garden.

After lunch, I visited this small shrine called Imahie Jingu (Shrine).

Some local young people were gathering and probably preparing for something like a festival.

At night. Kyoto Tower and its reflection from Kyoto station.

++ November 10 ++

Yasaka-no-to (Pagoda)

I took this photo (below) at a very good moment. The street was actually full of young students who are visiting Kyoto for a school trip.

I had lunch at Ikkyu-an(一休庵)at Chishaku-in (Temple) where I visited on the 9th as well.

Then visited their garden. *Admission 500 yen

As it was very close to our workplace, this temple became an oasis of our staff members.

In the evening, I visited Kodaiji (Temple).

Projection mapping at temple!!!?

The reflection of colored leaves was mysterious.

Very surprised to see the bamboo grove here. If you don't have time to visit Sagano area, this could be a nice option to appreciate them.

As I heard Kodaiji is very busy at night, I visited there after 9pm. There were still some people, but I was able to spend a lot of time taking photos.

++ November 11 ++

My work started from noon, so I had this wonderful opportunity to visit Eikando (Temple) before work.

I didn't really expect to go in and walk this much in the buildings.

Stairs, stairs, and stairs. It's kind of hard, but really worth going up.

I should say this is where I truly learned the feeling of "breathtaking."

In the evening, I visited Toji (Temple).

The garden was beautifully illuminated!!!
