Autumn in Kyoto Nov. 12 - 14
Hello, travelers. This is Kumi. Picturesque Japan Blog tells you more about Kyoto.
As my work finished on the 11th, I decided to make the most of this opportunity to explore Kyoto.
++ November 12 ++
I always had this special place in mind since the day I was asked to go to Kyoto.
Umenomiya Taisha (Shrine)
http://thekyotoproject.org/english/umenomiya-shrine/
This shrine is famous for their cats!!
You don't need to think about anything.
Just be with the cats. :)
You could talk to them.
You could take their photos.
It's a very peaceful shrine.
After spending such a peaceful time with the cats, I got suddenly drawn back to Kyoto's reality. The congestion!
Though, the scenery around Togetsukyo (Bridge) is pretty,
the bridge was covered with people...
people...
I decided not to get off here.
This area is called Sagano.

The bamboo grooves are very famous.
I visited Jojakko-ji (Temple).

Hmm... What is this feeling?
Déjà vu?
And this is Daikaku-ji (Temple).

Have I visited here before?
Well, I was able to enjoy their pond because the scenery was very different from other places.
After all, it may not be a good idea just visiting many temples and shrines. Tour guides often call this feeling "templed out." This happened to me because I was just focusing on how to get there, and didn't have time to think about the stories behind them.

In order to enjoy temples and shrines in Kyoto, I joined a tour conducted in English. Everything looked different with a professional tour guide!

Before going back to Tokyo, I really wanted to visit Sanzen-in (Temple) in Ohara area (Northan Kyoto).
https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3955.html
After a long bus ride, I arrived in Ohara area.
The walk to the temple was special. I loved the atmosphere!
Rain made colors more vivid.
This is the garden at Sanzen-in.
Isn't this special?
Or maybe this is special to ME.
Because I had been dreaming to come here.
Why?
My favorite jazz composer, Maria Schneider, visited Kyoto this year and composed the song called "Sanzen-in."
I really enjoyed strolling, thinking about what she saw, what she heard, what she felt, etc...
Through this Kyoto trip, I thought about what is a good trip.
Sometimes, we choose destinations because they are popular. However, it may be nicer if you have your own reasons to go there. Therefore, Sanzen-in and Umenomiya Taisha were very special to me during this trip.
If you don't have any special reasons for your next travel destinations, it may be a good idea to read books or see films about the places.
If you don't have time to read or watch, but coming to Tokyo soon, join my tour! I'll show you a lot of reasons why Tokyo is worth visiting!
