Tokyo sightseeing (Asakusa, Skytree, Harajuku)

Hello, travelers. This is Kumi. Picturesque Japan Blog welcomes you to Tokyo. This is a story of a lovely family trip during a cherry blossom season.

First of all, please look at the two high buildings. Do you see the Mt. Fuji between them?

No? How about this?

On a clear day, you could see Mt. Fuji from Tokyo. :)

Being blessed by Mt. Fuji, we started our tour from Sensoji Temple in Asakusa.

They really enjoyed shopping here on Nakamise street.

Look at the cherry blossoms!!!

As the flowers last only for a week or so, I've seen so many tourists who came a bit too early or a bit too late. So I should say they are VERY LUCKY!

This is an incense burner. The smoke is believed to have healing power. If you would like to know more about the incense burner, please check this out.

Cherry petals are covering the pond and making carps more gorgeous!

Now, let's go to the Tokyo Skytree!

We took Tobu Skytree line, and from the train windows, we looked at this Sumida River with a lot of cherry trees! Aren't they beautiful?

*You could walk from Asakusa to Skytree. It's about 17 minutes.

We arrived at Tokyo Sky Tree station and went up to the ticket booth on the fourth floor. Here is the ticket information:

This is inside the elevator. There are four elevators and each of them has a seasonal theme. Luckily, we happened to be in the "spring" elevator with a lot of cherry blossom patterns.

Now we're at the floor 350! Look at the view!!!

You can see the Sumida River below. If you find the slightly green big roof near the river (left side), that's Sumo Arena. You can see Tokyo Tower (333m) in the distance.

Glass Floor. Okay, let's look down!

Standing on it was kind of scary, but fun!

Now, this is the elevator to go down. This is the "autumn" elevator and the golden stuff is a phoenix.  (I should have looked for its head!)

The animated picture on the ground floor is very interesting.

You can also see the comparison of the tours all over the world.

We now take Hanzomon line from Oshiage (Z14) to Omotesando (Z02/C04), and then take Chiyoda line to Meiji-jingumae (C03).

Sushi time!! Yay!!

The staff members at this restaurant speak English and the English menu is available.

After lunch, we explored Meiji Shrine a bit.

And then, I took them to Takeshita Street in Harajuku.

As it was a half-day tour, they enjoyed shopping by themselves in the afternoon. We'll be visiting Hakone the next day.
