A greedy Kamakura tour
Hello, travelers. This is Kumi. Picturesque Japan Blog welcomes you to a greedy Kamakura tour.
This was a day with my tour guide friends. When tour guides visit places, we tend to be very greedy because we wish to check out as many places and things as possible for our future guests. Therefore, we ended up visiting TOO MANY places for one day. This is NOT relaxing at all, but this will give you the idea about what's possible for one day.
10:00 a.m.
We met at Kamakura station. There is a tourist information center just outside the station where you can get a free English map.
At first, we visited Hokokuji Temple by bus.
https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3120.html
The bus leaves from the bus stop #5 and you can take the bus number 鎌23, 鎌24 or 鎌36. Get off at "Jomyoji" stop. (*There is no bus stop called "Hokokuji")
Admission: 200 yen
Tea service: 500 yen
You need to pay 700 yen here if you want to have matcha (special green tea).
10:45 a.m.
We enjoyed matcha here.
Hmm... Very peaceful.
After Hokokuji, we took a bus from Jyomyoji to Hachimangu. The bus numbers are the same (鎌23, 鎌24 or 鎌36).
The bus stop is close to this red trii gate.
12:00 noon.
Okay, let's eat first! We went to a restaurant called Minemoto.

Oh, yeah!!
1:15 p.m.
Now it's time to visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.
https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3102.html
It's nice to look down the city from the shrine!
These are called Ema. People write down their wishes on the boards.
A wedding!!!!!
2:10 p.m.
After Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, we walked on Komachi Dori (shopping street). This street may be more for ladies who love sweets and cute stuff.
2:30 p.m.
We came back to the station and went to the other side of the railway tracks.
At Enoden station (not JR station), we bought Kamakura-Enoshima Afternoon Pass for 1,000 yen. (*Available after 1pm)
https://www.enoden.co.jp/en/tourism/ticket/afternoon-pass/
-Enoden unlimited ride
-Escar (escalator of the Enoshima island)
-Samuel Cocking Garden
-Sea Candle (tower)
This is Enoden (a train service) which started operating in 1902.
3:00 p.m.
We got off at Hase station and visited Hase Temple.
https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3101.html
There are a lot of attractions at Hase Temple like this cave.
3:50 p.m.
Then we walked to Kotokuin Temple to see Daibutsu (the Great Buddha).
https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3100.html
Please check out my blog about taking interesting photos with the Buddha.

After Kotokuin Temple, we took Enoden again to Enoshima station. This is where I made a big mistake. I wasn't really prepared for Enoshima and thought Enoshima island was close from Enoshima station, but it wasn't! We needed to walk more than 15 minutes to the island. After walking all day long, walking for 15 minutes was something...
Here is the basic information about Enoshima.

5:30 p.m.
We enjoyed some food in Enoshima.
Then took these escalators to the upper area.
We went up to the tower called "Sea Candle."
Look at this view!!! You can see the island is connected to the mainland.
It was a beautiful evening.
7:00 p.m.
We came down to the lower area on foot (no escalators to go down).
This was way too much for one day, but if you're super energetic and greedy, you could try. :P
